Auras by Pam Watson

http://www.thesoulelement.com
The human aura is an energy field that surrounds the physical body in an egg shape or bubble of spiritual light, color, sound, feeling and electro magnetic fields. The aura is a reflection of our true selves, the energy which emanates in, through and around our physical being which is a direct reflection of that which exists within. It is a blue print or picture of our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Because of this, the misconception that our aura is always the same is just that, a misconception. Our aura changes with emotion, feelings, thoughts, spiritual awareness and even our health, though one color may be more predominant than others.
Just as each human being is unique and individual, so is their aura. Though there may be similarities, no 2 are exactly the same. Each person's aura vibrates within their own frequency at different levels of strength and intensity. Because the aura constantly gives off and absorbs energy, it can also be affected and react to other energies and frequencies, such as another person's aura. Exchanges of this energy take place all day long with everyone you meet. Due to this, it is important to understand the affects other's energy can have on you. If you are unaware of this, you may find yourself feeling drained, may have odd thoughts or feelings that you're not sure why or where they come from, or you could even feel irritated or frustrated for no apparent reason. These things may have nothing to do with you at all, but simply may have everything to do with the energy you have accumulated from others through the day.
We have all experienced people that we have been around that leave us feeling drained, tired, and exhausted. Visiting with them or talking to them on the phone, leaves us feeling as though we need a nap. People that we'd just much rather avoid than have to go through the work it takes to deal with them. This kind of exchange is unhealthy and is a sign of someone that is pulling energy from your energy. Usually these types are not even aware they are doing this. You'll also find that these types tend to be more "negative" in their views and outlooks, and much of their conversation will be of a negative nature. There are some exercises that will help to keep your energy high and vibrant, block negative energy being directed at you, and to help you to not let others drain you of your energy.
There are considered to be 7 layers to the aura, layered out from the body. Each of these layers gets progressively less dense than the one before, therefore making them harder to see. I have found the easiest way to identify and understand these layers is to associate each layer with one of the 7 main chakras. As an example, the first layer, closest to the body, called the etheric body, relates to health and security or survival of the physical body. Of course, this is a "simple" method for classifying them, as the layers are much more abstract than the chakras themselves, and there is also much disagreement among many about what the outer layers truly signify. I am going to list here my understandings from my studies of these layers, yet I suggest to gain further information to form your own opinion, you research the many books on auras, work with exercises seeing and feeling the aura and gain your own experience in these understandings and interpretations.
The First Layer: The Etheric Body or layer. The physical blueprint of the body. Like the base/root chakra, it relates to the health, survival and security of the physical body. Physical signs of illness and injury can be seen in this layer. The etheric layer is closest to the body and fits nearly like a second skin. Generally, it extends from 1/4 of an inch to two inches from the body. It usually appears to visual sight as a light blue or gray light or haze right near the skin. This is usually the easiest layer to see and the first layer seen.
The Second Layer: The Emotional Body. This layer relates to your emotions and boundaries, emotions with us and emotions we have for others around us. The emotional layer is often seen as a swirling mass of energy around the body. The form resembles the human shape but is not as defined as the etheric layer.
The Third Layer: The Mental Body. This layer relates to your basic beliefs, your intellect, personal power and understanding. This is the layer of thought and ideas. This layer is usually most visible around the head and shoulders as a yellow glow. It is in this layer that thought and ideas actually become substantiated. This layer is usually pretty easy to see too. It will really stand out when you observe someone thinking or concentrating.
The Fourth Layer: The Astral Layer, also sometimes called the Buddhic Layer. The astral layer marks the division between the physical layers and the higher layers. This layer is responsible for interaction between people. It is the layer of love and of relationships. Your relationship with others, yourself, God and your body.
The Fifth Layer: Etheric Template, also known as the Atmic Layer. The fifth layer is where the descriptions begin to get more abstract. This body is a copy of the physical body on a higher level. It is the basic template of your uniqueness and inner identity.
The Sixth Layer: The Celestial body, also known as the Monad. It is the body of emotional level on the spiritual plane. It is the layer to group consciousness, clairvoyance, and it is the level of unconditional love .
The Seventh Layer: The Ketheric Template, also known as the Causal Body and referred to some as " The Divine".. This is the mental layer of the spiritual level, it is our spiritual template. Through this layer we meld and become one with Spirit. Through this layer we can access the akashic records and look into our past lives.
Aura Colors
I have heard and seen many people offer many different explanations on what the colors in auras mean. I think the best way to learn this is to read the different opinions, and then weigh them against your experiences. I think different colors can mean different things to different people and situations. Look at someone's aura and notice what they are doing at the moment, or if they are ill, or injured, or upset, or mad, and notice if there is anything notable in their aura. Keep a record of these things. Compare them with the definitions of others. I think this is truly the only way to get your own understanding of what they mean. The colors and definitions I'm going to list here are simply "my beliefs" of what these colors mean. I think you'll find my list pretty common, as I try to keep it as basic as possible. One of the most important factors I see people over look is that the colors within the different layers can mean different things. Such as an example, "red". If you saw red on someone near the hip area, where someone not aware of the importance of different layers, might expect that since they read that "red" means anger, that this person might be angry. However, this in my opinion would mean that the person has some inflammation, pain or injury in that area of the body. There are also the different shades of colors that need to be considered, such as muddier shades or hazy shades as opposed to bright or soft shades, but, as I said, I'm going to give a basic overall definition of each color.
RED
Red is nature's warning color. Red can indicate a high level of emotion, such as anger, impulsiveness, aggression or hate. I think of red as "heat" and it can also indicate pain, swelling, or injury on the physical body. Red on occasion can indicate a very strong willpower or energy being directed to achieve a goal. This is usually seen as red ball type shapes in the upper part of the aura.
Orange
I always think of Orange as "outgoing", warm, spontaneous, courage, joy and someone very "social", they like to be around people. If a muddy shade of orange is seen on the body, nearing a brown color, this can mean a severe condition. Muddy shades elsewhere in the aura can indicate emotional imbalances, pride, vanity, worry, and around the head can mean "laziness". Pastel shades of orange can indicate searching for new spiritual paths, aspirations.
Yellow
Yellow is a mental color in the aura. You will see this color around the head more often than probably any other color. It signifies concentration, thinking, learning, studying. It can also indicate spiritual development, usually on the very pale to white shades. The muddier shades of yellow can signify fussy, over analytical behavior. It can reflect being overly critical about others or life. It can also mean the need for attention, or feeling they need recognition.
Green
Nature's GROWTH color. I always think of growth when I think of green. It's the color of renewal, the color of healing. Many healers (doctors, psychiatrists, etc) have green in their auras. Most people with this color in their aura also have a balancing and calming effect on others. They are generally well balanced themselves, strong, straightforward and protective. They are generally concerned about the well being of everyone. The heart is the focus. The shades of bright green, almost a seafoam, that blends into an electric blue tend to be seen in those who have healing ability, healers who generally work with energy. I've also seen green in areas where people are healing from something, this can be on an emotional, physical or mental level. The muddier shades of green can indicate untrustworthiness, jealousy, and possessiveness.
Blue
The lighter brighter shades of blue, as found in the throat chakra, generally reflect a good imagination, creativity and good intuition. It's a calming and peaceful color. It can indicate the ability for clairaudience. The deeper shades of blue can indicate loneliness. The muddier shades can indicate blocked perceptions, worrying, over sensitivity, fearfulness. Royal Shades of blue indicate honesty, truth and good judgment.
Indigo, Violet, Purple
Spiritual Colors, associated with the Third Eye/Brow Chakra, and the Crown Chakra. Basically spiritual knowledge put into action. these colors will be present in people who meditate a lot, channel, and work on spiritual purity. These colors I must note too are normally found around the head. Those who go from shades of violet into lavender and white have attained the highest spiritual path. The muddier shades can reflect erotic imaginations, overbearingness, needs for sympathy.
PINK
Pink means compassion. It's associated with the heart chakra on an emotional level. It indicates and reflects love and a strong sense of companionship.
WHITE
When white stands out in the aura, and I mean in a way that it is very apparent you are seeing an abundance of white, and not just white in the aura or a poor perception of the aura, this is indicating pure pranic energy, life force, truth and purity of spirit. This has been seen in yogis and gurus. It indicates that the energy of the individual is purifying and cleansing and of the greatest spiritual awakening. You may also witness white speckled lights around healers and mediums while they are healing or communicating. White speckled lights are a sign that spirit and healing energy are present. I've actually seen and witnessed this while at a John Edward seminar. It appeared as though someone had thrown glitter up around him with all of the little flashing sparkles of light around him. I've learned that I generally now see this when light beings or spirit is around, it's always an indicator for me.
BLACK
First, I'd like to say, black does not always mean death or terminal illness. Yes, it most definitely can indicate illnesses, diseases, injuries, and can indicate emotional imbalances such as depression. Yes, it is a warning sign in most cases, however, it is not the end all. It can also show holes in the aura, when detected by and worked with by those who have experience, can be closed and healed. So please, if you see black in someone's aura, please do not blurt out that they are going to die or they are terminally ill. I have seen spots or areas of darkness on individuals, it could be something as simple as a cold in the chest, or a spot where they've had their appendix out. Be careful how you represent this. If you see something that looks wrong, gently nudge them to see a doctor.
GOLD
Spiritual Strength, spiritual energy. A great protection color from negative energies too.
SILVER
Silver, much like white, is the color of the highest spiritual energies or spiritual forces. The highest realms of spirit. and angelic kingdoms. You'll usually see this as twinkles or specks or flashes of light, similar to those I mentioned under "white". I've actually seen gold, silver and white sparkles where energies are concerned and they all seem to be of the same cause. Now, one interesting thing to note here, pregnant women will have silver sparkles in their aura, that does not mean that all women with silver sparkles are pregnant, but you will notice, pregnant women will have silver sparkles.
Aura Exercises
I'm going to discuss here some simple exercises that can be done to help block the flow of another's energy into your aura, as well as some exercises to strengthen your aura.
Close the Circuit
This exercise is a very old and effective technique that many people do without even noticing they naturally do it. Have you ever watched the body language of someone who does not want to be a part of the conversation, or doesn't want to be where they are? They naturally, without thinking about it cross their arms, lean back and often cross their legs in some manner too. This is shutting you out or at the very least, not giving you any of their energy. This exercise is as simple as that, only their are some less "obvious" ways to do it. Say you are sitting in a dinner table at a restaurant, and there is some one that is sending you negative energy or is "drawing" on your energy. Put your hands under the table in your lap and with your palms facing each other, only in opposite directions (your fingers of your left hand would be pointing toward your right wrist and the fingers of your right hand would be pointing to your left wrist,) hook your fingers together. Then simply cross your legs at your ankles. It's that simple. Another version of this is to take your hands and place the opposite thumb to the opposite forefinger of each hand and then cross your legs.

Giving Back Energy
To gain back your energy given through the day and to give people back their energy, simply state out loud, or in your mind, "I release your energy back to you and I take back all of my energy from you".

Strengthening, Balancing and Clearing Your Aura
Ok, not to sound like I'm preaching, but outdoor sunlight and fresh air as well as exercise strengthens your aura.
Meditation also strengthens and protects the aura.
Musical notes and sounds, even chants can help cleanse, balance and re-energize your chakras and your aura. Try our Chakra Tuned Singing Quartz Crystal Bowls, or try some Gregorian Chants, they'll not only cleanse the negative energy from your aura, they'll also cleanse it from the surrounding environment.
Smudging can cleanse your aura as well the surrounding area.
Crystals, especially laser wands, massage wands or double terminated points are excellent for cleansing and re-balancing the aura. Here's one of my secrets that I often use in conjunction with other techniques on my clients:
Take your crystal and starting over the head, ( I like to start about 6 inches above the head) use one end and move in tiny counter clockwise circles (That would be to the left) all the way down the front of the body and about 6 inches past the soles of the feet. this should be done about 4-5 inches from the physical body I guess. Then, turn your crystal around, and going in clockwise (that would be to the right) tiny circles, move back up the body an back off of the top of the head. Once you are done, set the crystal down and now sweep your hands in a down word sweeping motion across the front of the body and down the side.

There are some other techniques, but they mostly take training and are performed by those that are trained in them, but any of the above techniques you can do on your own .
